Village Rehabilitation Project (VRP)

Districts: (Shikarpur), (Kashmore), and (Jacobabad)

Objectives:  In 2010, the super flood in the Sindh Province changed the overall scenario. The Government of Sindh also intended to go along with the community and extend its support to flood-affected people in rehabilitation while providing shelters to them on a priority basis.

Village Rehabilitation Project-VRP is the Reconstruction Plan of Two Room Houses to rebuild the 7000 houses for the flood victims, initiated by the Government of Sindh. Simultaneously, some of the INGOs, WFP, USAID, UNICEF, DFID, etc., have decided to contribute in different shapes to the completion of this big initiative.

Major Activities:

Reconstruction & Rehabilitation of 7,000 houses in three districts, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Jacobabad, under the Union Council-Based Poverty Reduction Program.
43 villages have been selected, and each village has 200-300 houses.
These villages have been surveyed by the SRSO and approved by the Government of Sindh for rehabilitation.
These villages include:

  • 12 Villages in Kashmore-Kandhkot,
  • 18 Villages in Jacobabad,
  • 13 Villages in Shikarpur.

The said Project package support comprises the following interventions:

  • Two-room houses,
  • Each House is to have a Hand Pump, Latrine, and solar light,
  • Each village to have sanitation drains and Brick paved streets,
  • Every five houses share one biogas plant.
